Ryan Fayyazi

Hi! I’m a PhD student in the Cognition & Perception program at NYU, advised by Cate Hartley. I’m interested in modeling the cognitive algorithms underlying open-ended autotelic decision-making in animals, and building similarly capable artificial agents.

Before joining NYU, I was a researcher at Cold Spring Harbor Lab, where I worked with Ben Cowley and Florin Albeanu to build computational models of closed-loop decision-making in mice. I hold an MSc in Computer Science and BSc in Integrated Sciences from the University of British Columbia, where I collaborated with Frank Wood and Jeremy Seamans.
